Autopilot vs Odoo Field Service

Odoo is a full ERP where field service is one app among dozens, and it is a genuine bargain if you have someone to configure it. Autopilot plans start at $49 a month, and the $149 Full Throttle plan includes the full phone system, AI receptionist, QuickBooks, GPS, and marketing tools.

Who is Odoo Field Service?

Odoo is a Belgian software company (Odoo S.A.) that builds an open-source ERP made of dozens of apps: accounting, inventory, CRM, HR, manufacturing, websites, and among them a Field Service module. The field service app covers drag-and-drop planning with Gantt and map views, onsite worksheets with signatures, time tracking, and invoicing that pulls in parts used on the job. It connects to the rest of the Odoo suite as you grow.

The pricing model is unusual and honestly generous: your first app is free forever with unlimited users. The catch is that one app is rarely enough. The moment you add Invoicing, CRM, or Inventory you move to the Standard plan at $31.10 per user per month (billed annually), or the Custom plan at $61 per user per month for Odoo Studio, multi-company, and API access. Support and hosting are included.

Odoo's real strength is breadth. If you want your field work, books, stock, and payroll in one system, and you have the patience or a partner to set it all up, few platforms touch it for the money. What it is not is a phone-first home service tool: there is no built-in phone service, no AI receptionist, no review funnel, and configuring an ERP is a project, not an afternoon.

Who is Autopilot?

Autopilot is an all-in-one CRM built for home service businesses: junk removal, cleaning, landscaping, moving, and the rest of the trades that keep neighborhoods running. Plans start at $49 a month for scheduling, estimates, invoicing, payments, and online booking. Crew at $99 adds two-way texting and limited calling. Full Throttle at $149 adds the full phone system, AI receptionist, QuickBooks, GPS, and marketing tools. Plans include 1, 5, or 10 team members respectively.

It was built by a founder who ran his own junk removal company and got tired of paying for three tools that didn't talk to each other. Over 400 businesses run on it today, and it holds a 4.8 rating on the App Store and 4.9 on Google Play.

Against Odoo, the pitch is focus: Autopilot does the home service job end to end, phones and AI included, without asking you to assemble an ERP first.

The bottom line

Two different tools for two different businesses. Here is the honest split.

Choose Odoo Field Service if…

  • You want field service, accounting, inventory, and HR in one ERP and are willing to configure it
  • You only need one app and want it genuinely free with unlimited users
  • You have an Odoo partner or a technical person on staff
  • You need multi-company operations or a full API

Choose Autopilot if…

  • You want to be booking jobs this week, not running an ERP implementation
  • You want the business phone, texting, and AI receptionist built in, not bolted on through a VoIP provider
  • You want a flat $49 to $149 a month instead of per-user math that grows with every hire
  • You want home service marketing included: review funnel, SMS and email blasts, Google Ads tracking

Switching from Odoo Field Service takes an afternoon

Four steps, and our team does the heavy one for you.

  1. 1

    Export your customers

Pull your client list out of Odoo Field Service as a CSV. Every FSM platform supports this, and it takes about five minutes.

  2. 2

    We import everything for you

Send us the file and our team loads your customers, jobs, and price book into Autopilot as part of free onboarding. No spreadsheet wrestling on your end.

  3. 3

Point your phone number at Autopilot

On Full Throttle, keep your existing business number. We port it or forward it, so calls start landing in Autopilot with recording, transcripts, and the AI receptionist behind them.

  4. 4

Run both for a week, then cut over

Your Odoo Field Service account keeps working during your free trial. Most crews book their first Autopilot job on day one and cancel the old subscription within the month.

Odoo exports customers, contacts, and invoices to CSV or Excel from any list view, so pulling your data out takes minutes.
