Straight Answers Before You Order.

Which Stripe reader is the smallest?

The Stripe Reader M2 is the smallest option. It weighs about 3 ounces and connects to a phone or tablet over Bluetooth. The S700 and S710 are larger smart readers with 5.5-inch touchscreens.

What is the difference between the S700 and S710?

They have the same screen, dimensions, weight, and $299 listed hardware price. The S710 adds 4G/LTE cellular connectivity. The S700 uses Wi-Fi, or Ethernet with an optional hub.

Do I need a card reader to use Autopilot payments?

No. You can also use Tap to Pay on an eligible iPhone or Android phone, or send an invoice with a payment link. A separate reader is useful when you need chip and swipe support or want dedicated payment hardware.

Do I need a Stripe account?

Yes. Card reader payments run through a connected Stripe account. The reader is registered to Stripe and then paired inside Autopilot.

Are the prices on this page final?

The prices shown were verified on Stripe's United States pages on July 24, 2026. Taxes, shipping, accessories, cellular service, and payment processing are separate, and Stripe can change pricing.
